Help Pass a
Strong Global Warming Bill
|
|

Target: U.S. House of
Representatives
Sponsored by:
Environmental Defense Fund
Representatives
Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Ed Markey (D-MA) have
introduced draft global warming legislation that
would cap America's global warming pollution,
liberate us from imported oil, and put millions of
Americans to work unleashing our clean energy
future.
It will become the legislative vehicle in the House
for climate action this year. This is the
opportunity we've long been waiting for. Scientists
warn that there is no time to waste -- that if we
don't act now, we risk catastrophic threats from
run-away global warming.
We must seize this opportunity to pass the strongest
possible bill. Please send an email to your
Representative to support global warming action in
2009.

Protect Polar Bears From
Global Warming
Target:
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar
Sponsored by:
Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund
In a disappointing
move, the Obama administration has left polar bears poorly
protected from one of the gravest threats to this endangered
species – global warming.
Pandering to
Big Oil, the outgoing Bush/Cheney administration limited vital
protections for polar bears from global warming and oil and gas
development, essentially denying polar bears the help they need
to survive some of the greatest threats to their existence.
Yet
global warming is at the very heart of the threat to the polar
bear. Scientists say that global
warming and habitat loss could drive America's polar bears to
extinction by the end of the century.
Unfortunately, Interior Secretary Salazar decided to back the
status quo, rather than bring meaningful change to how this
endangered species is treated.
Tell Secretary Salazar how disappointed you are in his decision
to support the Bush-era rule – and urge him to review the
science and protect endangered polar bears from global warming.
